When I was younger, I often balanced numerous responsibilities—work, family, church activities, and personal commitments. In this hustle, I was always frustrated. Mostly because my plans and prayers were met with divine delays. No matter how much I fasted and prayed, God did not move any faster. What do you do when you are in a hurry, but God is taking His time?  It took me some time and a lot of heartache before I learned the seven tips I will share in today’s blog post. I do not want you to get discouraged; instead, consider this a time to surrender to God, which will only make you more connected to him.

1.  Trust in God’s Timing

The Bible reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.” Understanding that God’s timing is perfect, even when it does not align with our own, is crucial. His delays are not denials but opportunities for growth, preparation, and deeper faith.

2.  Seek His Presence

When you are impatient, take a moment to step back and seek God’s presence. Spend time in prayer, worship, and reading the Scriptures. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

3.  Reflect on Past Faithfulness

Reflect on past instances where God has come through for you. Remembering His faithfulness in previous situations can bolster your faith and remind you that He is always working, even when you cannot see it. Psalm 77:11 says, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

4.  Focus on What You Can Control

While waiting for God’s timing, focus on what you can control. Continue to be diligent in your responsibilities, maintain a positive attitude, and look for ways to serve others.  Proverbs 16:3 advises, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

5.  Embrace Patience as a Virtue

Patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Embrace this virtue and allow it to transform your character. Waiting can be a time of profound personal growth and spiritual maturity if we allow God to work in us during these seasons.

6.  Surround Yourself with Encouragement

Share your struggles with trusted friends or mentors who can offer prayer and encouragement. A supportive community can sometimes provide the perspective and strength needed to wait on God’s timing.

7.  Keep an Eternal Perspective

Lastly, remember that our lives are part of a larger divine narrative. God’s plans for us are for our good and His glory. Romans 8:28 assures us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

If you think about it, you are probably in a hurry for your prayers to happen because you are worried that your current circumstances will overtake you before you can put a plan in place to solve them,  but in moments of hurry and impatience, we must anchor ourselves in the truth of God’s unwavering faithfulness and perfect timing.  We can navigate these seasons with grace and confidence by trusting Him, seeking His presence, and embracing patience. Remember, God’s delays are often His way of preparing us for the blessings He has in store.

Stay encouraged, and may your faith strengthen as you await Him.

With Peace & Love,

Renee
