What Are String Prayers?

A strong prayer is a personalized prayer made by “stringing” together three scriptures that speak to your current circumstances. By praying God’s word, you can tap into His promises, draw closer to Him, and find the courage to face life’s challenges.

How to Craft Your String Prayer

  1. Identify Your Need
Think about what you’re experiencing. Is it fear? Anxiety? A need for guidance or strength? Knowing what you’re seeking helps you find scriptures that resonate deeply.
  2. Search the Scriptures
Use a Bible concordance, a search engine, or a devotional book to find scriptures that address your needs. Write down the verses that touch your heart.

For example:

  1. If you’re feeling afraid, you might choose:
    1. Isaiah 41:10
    2. Psalm 34:4
    3. 2 Timothy 1:7
  2. Write Them Down Together
Place the scriptures to create a natural flow. Write them in a journal, on index cards, or save them on your phone for quick access.
  3. Personalize the Prayer
Turn the scriptures into a prayer by inserting your name or specific circumstances. For instance:
“Lord, You tell me in Isaiah 41:10 not to fear because You are with me. In Psalm 34:4, You promise to deliver me from all my fears. And in 2 Timothy 1:7, You remind me that You have given me a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. Thank You for your faithfulness!”

  • During Challenges: Whenever fear or doubt creeps in, pause and repeat your prayer to realign your focus on God.
  • Memorization: Commit your string prayer to memory so it’s always with you.
