Hello my dear sister, and Happy Mother’s Day.
Today, I want to pause and speak directly to you, the single mom who is holding it all together even when it feels like you’re falling apart.
This morning, my youngest son, now 32, sent me a message that made me smile and cry at the same time.. He’s coming over later, but just wanted to say good morning and send me a little love. Here’s what he wrote:
“Happy Mother’s Day!! I love you, Mom, and I’m so glad to have you as my angel and best friend. This Mother’s Day, I pray you are recognized for your resilience as a parent and your consideration as a protector.”
I sat with his words for a while, not just as his mother but as a woman who once believed she was dooming her children with every hard decision, every missed moment, and every tear cried behind a closed door. Raising five children alone wasn’t easy. There were so many days I didn’t feel strong; I just felt tired. So many nights, I went to bed praying, Lord, please cover what I cannot fix.
Sister, if you’re in that place today, please hear me: you are not failing, you are not forgotten, and you are not alone.

Parenting, especially solo parenting, is like building a house in a storm. You pour concrete in the rain. You patch leaks while trying to sleep. You learn to hammer with one hand while holding a baby with the other. And all the while, you question if what you’re building will ever be enough.
But God.
God knows your name. He sees your efforts. And he is in the details of your motherhood.
Years ago, when I was studying to become a therapist, a path I ultimately didn’t follow, a wise professor told me, “You can’t change the past. All you can do is meet your clients where they are.”
That lesson stayed with me, not just for clients, but for parenting.
Meet your children where they are.
Meet yourself where you are.
Because grace lives in the present. And healing blooms in the now.
So today, I want to honor you, dear sister.
Whether your house is full of little voices or filled with echoes and memories…
Whether your kids made breakfast in bed or forgot the day altogether…
Whether you feel joy, grief, or something in between
I see you. God sees you. And this moment is sacred.
You are doing the work of angels.
You are a nurturer, protector, warrior, and wise woman.
You are enough.

May today bring you peace and love, and be a gentle reminder that you are surviving and thriving in ways only God could orchestrate.
