The story of Job has always fascinated me and, if I’m being honest, scared me too.
I mean, let’s talk about it. God offered Job up to the enemy. That alone made me pause. Job didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, he was living right, righteous, faithful, upright in every way. And yet, he became the centerpiece of a cosmic battle between good and evil.
I used to wonder: Lord, why him? And could it ever be me?
The enemy believed Job would turn his back on God once the blessings were removed, but Job didn’t. Even when he lost his wealth, his children, his health, and the support of his closest friends and his wife, he held on. Yes, he mourned. Yes, he asked questions. But no—he never turned on God.
I can’t always say that’s been my testimony. Maybe you feel the same. When life gets tough, when it feels like the enemy has backed you into a corner and nothing is going right, it’s hard to stay faithful. But Job’s story isn’t just a lesson in suffering, it’s a blueprint for surviving spiritual storms.
Today, I want to share three powerful lessons I’ve learned from Job’s story:
1. God Knows What’s in You Even When You Don’t
“Have you considered my servant Job?” (Job 1:8)
God wasn’t testing Job to break him He was showing the enemy what real faith looks like. God knew Job could handle the storm, even though Job didn’t see it coming. That encourages me because sometimes, when I feel overwhelmed, I forget that God has already equipped me for the battle I’m facing. He’s not guessing. He knows what’s in me and what’s in you.
2. Faith Isn’t Proven in the Light It’s Refined in the Fire
Job’s faith wasn’t shaken when he was wealthy or when things were going well. The real test came in the darkness. When everything was stripped away and he had nothing left but God—that’s when his faith was revealed as pure gold.
As Christian women, we often want to avoid the fire, but the fire is where the refining happens. That’s where trust grows deeper, prayers get more honest, and our worship becomes more real.
3. God Restores But the Process Takes Time
Yes, Job was restored. In fact, he received double for his trouble. But the story isn’t just about the ending. It’s about what Job endured and who he became through the suffering. Restoration didn’t erase the pain, but it revealed God’s faithfulness on a whole new level.
Waiting on God is hard, especially when it feels like the enemy is winning. But Job teaches us that restoration is coming—even if it doesn’t come overnight.
I know Job’s story has inspired sermons, books, and Bible studies for generations. But today, I want to hear from you.
What has the story of Job taught you about faith, endurance, or God’s character?
