3 Things to Do While You’re Waiting for God to Open the Right Door

Hello friend, and welcome back to Empowered Faith Media,
We walk by faith, not sight, and believe that our waiting season isn’t wasted; it’s a time of preparation, refinement, and deepening trust in God.

Maybe you’re waiting for the right job to come along. Or pray for a spouse, child, or friend who truly gets you. Perhaps you dream of starting that ministry or launching a business that honors God. And yet, all you’re met with are closed doors. No, after no. Silence where you expected clarity.

I see you. And more importantly, God sees you.
I know what it’s like to follow God’s instructions and expect an immediate breakthrough. When I launched my ministry, I thought things would take off overnight. I was obeying God, wasn’t I? But things didn’t go according to my timeline. It took months to see a glimpse of progress. And in some areas, I’m still waiting.

But here’s the truth: just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it’s not on the way.
So today, I want to share three powerful, faith-building things you can do while you wait for God to open the right door because haven’t we all knocked on enough wrong ones?

1. Strengthen Your Foundation in the Word

Waiting can wear on your spirit. It can make you question what you heard, felt, and even who you are. But God’s Word is your anchor.

Scripture:
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

Action Step: Start your mornings with scripture—10 minutes a day can shift your mindset. Choose a verse that speaks to your season and meditate on it throughout the day.

Journal Prompt:
What scripture speaks to my current season of waiting? How can this verse guide my thoughts and prayers this week?

2. Serve While You Wait

Sometimes, the door opens after you’ve proven faithful in the hallway. Serving others allows God to develop your character, patience, and humility.

Scripture:
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

Action Step: Find one small way to serve as a volunteer, mentor someone, pray for a friend, or show kindness in daily encounters. Your perspective shifts when you take your eyes off your lack and pour it into others.

Journal Prompt:
Where might God be asking me to serve right now? How can I bring joy to someone else, even in the midst of my waiting?

3. Prepare for What You’ve Prayed For

Faith is not passive. It moves. If you believe in God for a partner, are you becoming the person you’re praying for? If you’re praying for a business, are you learning how to sustain it?

Scripture:
“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”
Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)

Action Step: Make your preparation practical. Start the budget. Take the course. Declutter the nursery. Revise the business plan. Move as if the door is already opening.

Journal Prompt:
What small steps can I take this week to prepare for the door I believe God to open?

My friend, this season of waiting is not punishment; it’s purpose. God is working in you as much as He is working for you. The right door will open; when it does, you’ll be ready because you chose to trust Him in the hallway.
